### What is concrete and why is it important?

This is where 'biochar' comes in! Scientists collect waste from sewage systems and heat it at very high temperatures to turn it into a type of charcoal. This is called biochar. The researchers replaced a portion of the cement used in making concrete (at 5%, 10%, and 15% ratios) with this biochar. The results surprised everyone: especially the mixtures with 5% biochar added became even stronger than regular concrete!

Concrete made with biochar isn't just stronger; it also helps protect the environment. Research shows that this mixture prevents heavy metals from leaking out.
