The butterfly election will be open until June 7th, and the society hopes that by getting to know butterflies better, people will be able to identify them more easily. But why are insects so amazing? The Butterfly Conservation Society wants people to think about the quirks, athleticism, or resilience of these winged creatures. For example, the Painted Lady butterfly makes a big journey from North Africa, the Middle East, or Central Asia to England every year. Or the Peacock Butterfly, which develops its underside to resemble dead leaves!
