Tako, the piano-playing octopus, has retired. His owner, Swedish YouTuber Mattias Krantz, announced the news in March 2026. Tako was taught to play the piano by Krantz, who redesigned the instrument to help the octopus feel the music. After six months of practice, Tako learned to play sequences of notes and even played alongside Krantz's guitar in a viral video.
