Beano is a famous comedy magazine with characters like Dennis the Menace and many funny stories and cartoons. This year, a group of Year 6 students won the 'England's Funniest Class' competition. They are from Whitstable, Kent.

The Winning Joke

The winning joke was very creative and funny: 'I didn't think food could talk on the phone, but then: boom! Onion rings!'. This joke beat hundreds of entries from all over England.

The Prize

The students and their teacher, Bethan Crowe, will be drawn in the Beano magazine. Bethan Crowe also won the title of 'England's Funniest Teacher'. The teacher said, 'It's lovely to see 32 kids laughing at the same time, we thought we had to use this joke, it's so sweet'.

How the Joke Was Born

The student who came up with the joke, Jack, said, 'I just thought about it and then I found this joke'. He also said, 'Actually, I don't like onion rings that much'. His classmate Alexis said, 'I couldn't believe it and I couldn't speak'.

Beano's 'Comedy Director' Mike Stirling said, 'The winning joke was creative and really funny. Clearly, the future of comedy is in good hands with these kids'.
