The Champions League is back, and the draw for this season's league phase has revealed some super exciting matches to look forward to. Some of Europe's biggest men's football teams will go head-to-head, including plenty of thrilling games featuring the five English clubs taking part. Last season's finalists, Arsenal, will face the 15-time winners Real Madrid at home, while Manchester City will play against the reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain and five-time winners Barcelona. There are five Premier League teams in this season's Champions League draw: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United. Both Manchester City and Aston Villa will play against Barcelona and the current champions, Paris Saint-Germain. The French team won the trophy last season after a penalty shootout against Arsenal in May. Premier League champions Arsenal will welcome Real Madrid to their home stadium and will also travel to Germany to face Harry Kane's team, Bayern Munich. Manchester United, who are returning to the Champions League after two years, will also face Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Liverpool will play against Atletico Madrid and the 2025 finalists, Inter Milan. This season's final will take place in Madrid on June 5, 2027. There are 36 clubs in the league stage. Each team plays eight matches against eight different opponents—four at home and four away. The opponents are chosen using a draw with four 'pots' based on how well the teams have performed recently in Europe. Every club is drawn to play two opponents from each pot. After the eight matches, the top eight teams go straight to the round of 16. Teams finishing 9th to 24th go into a play-off round to try and reach the next stage, while teams ranked 25th to 36th are knocked out of the competition.
